CISCO SFS 3000 Series Multifabric Server Switches

  Connecting InfiniBand with Ethernet and Fibre Channel

The Cisco SFS 3000 Series Multifabric Server Switches combine a high performance InfiniBand server interconnect with Ethernet and Fibre Channel gateways to allow an entire fabric of servers to share virtualized pools of I/O and storage resources connected through Ethernet or Fibre Channel switches such as Cisco Catalyst or Cisco MDS switches.

The switches can be deployed as standalone elements for small fabrics or used at the edge of a large fabric of Cisco SFS 7000 Series InfiniBand Server Switches. They are designed to reach beyond legacy clustering solutions to transform high-performance server clusters into flexible computing grids.

Combined with Cisco VFrame™ Server Fabric Virtualization software, the Cisco SFS 3000 Series provides a powerful foundation for automated server provisioning and on-demand computing.

Modular configuration, 1-RU, fully nonblocking InfiniBand witch with transparent topology architecture; twelve 4x InfiniBand ports and one gateway slot for a 6-port Ethernet gateway or 2-port Fibre Channel gateway; embedded Subnet Manager
Maximum Ports : 12 InfiniBand Ports and one getway slot for 6 Ethernet or 2 Fibre Channel ports
Supported Module : 6-port Ethernet gateway; 2-port Fibre Channel gateway


 CISCO® SFS 3012 Multifabric Server Switch
 

Modular configuration, 4-RU, 24 InfiniBand ports with 12 expansion slots for Ethernet or Fibre Channel gateways; 10Gbps fabric-to-server interconnect; high availability in a single chassis; embedded Subnet Manager
Maximum Ports : 24 InfiniBand Ports and 12 gateway slots for up to 72 Ethernet ports or 24 Fibre Channel ports or various combinations of the two
Supported Module : 6-port Ethernet gateway; 2-port Fibre Channel gateway ; 12-port 4x InfiniBand LIM card
